One
day in
the Spring and Autumn Period, a farmer in the State of Song was working
in the field when he saw a rabbit bump into a tree stump accidentally and
break its neck. The farmer took the rabbit home, and cooked himself a delicious
meal. That night he thought, 'Why should I work so hard on the field? All
I have to do is wait for a rabbit each day by the stump. One rabbit per day
is enough for me. This idiom bemocks those who just lucked through the accident
and waited for it happens again, rather than making efforts to obtain what
they need.

“shǒu 守zhū 株dāi 待tù 兔 ”zhè 这gě 个chéng 成yǔ 语 ，jī 讥xiào 笑nā 那xiē 些bú 不xiǎng 想jīng 经guō 过náo 努lì 力 ，cún 存zài 在jiǎ 侥xìng 幸xīn 心lǐ 理 ，xī 希wàng 望dé 得dào 到yì 意wài 外shōu 收huò 获de 的rén 人 。 |
